About Travel to Koh Bulone
If you are planning to travel from Bangkok to Koh Bulone by plane with a connecting bus and ferry for the last part of the journey to the island then you have two choices:
- Travel via Trang Airport
- Travel via Hat Yai International Airport
Both airports are about the same distance from the ferry pier (Pak Bara Pier) where speedboat services to Koh Bulone depart.
- Location of Trang Airport:
Via the fastest route, it is a 102 km journey from Trang Airport to Pak Bara which takes approximately 1 hour 41 minutes. From Hat Yai International Airport it is a journey of 116 km which takes 1 hour 47 minutes if the vehicle you are travelling in keeps to the speed limits.
There are more bus and minivan services a day travelling direct from Hat Yai International Airport to Pak Bara Pier than there are from Trang Airport to Pak Bara Pier. However, the number of daily shared speedboats from Pak Bara Pier to Koh Bulone is very limited, and they all depart at the same time. For that reason there is no advantage in travelling from Bangkok to Koh Bulone via Hat Yai International Airport compared to travelling via Trang Airport.
- Location of Pak Bara Pier:
Speedboat services from Pak Bara Pier to Koh Bulone depart at 12:30 every day during the tourist season from November through to April. The journey by speedboat from Pak Bara Pier to Koh Bulone takes only 30 minutes to complete a 23 km sea crossing.
- Location of Koh Bulone Pier:
The Taweesub Speedboat service to Koh Bulone terminates at Koh Bulone Pier, which is in Mango Bay on the south coast of Koh Bulone.
The Seasatun Travel service terminates on School Beach which is on the east coast of Koh Bulone. Most of the large resorts on Koh Bulone, such as Bulone Resort, are located on School Beach.
