Taking a direct bus and ferry service from Suvarnabhumi International Airport is the most cost effective way to travel from the airport to Koh Mak. The other options are more expensive and take nearly as long.

Among those options are flying from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to Trat Airport, and then taking a taxi to the ferry pier. Flights from Bangkok to Trat cost in the region of 2,500 THB person and the taxi from Trat Airport to the ferry pier will cost around 1,400 THB even if you book in advance online. Ferry tickets then need to be purchased making it at least twice the cost to travel compared to taking a direct bus and ferry service for a journey which may not be considerably faster.

• Location of Ao Nid Pier in Koh Mak:

The second and final stage of the journey from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to Koh Mak is by speedboat from Laem Sok Pier on the mainland to Ao Nid Pier in the west of Koh Mak. The sea crossing by speedboat takes 30 to 40 minutes. Operators on the Koh Mak route use large speedboats with a small toilet in the centre of the boat but little room to move around for the passengers. Luggage is stored in the front section of the boat.
