It’s an awkward journey to travel from Phuket International Airport to Koh Tao by public transport because the airport is located in the north of the island and the long distance bus station in Phuket (Phuket Bus Terminal 2) is located 30 km by road to the south. This means travellers using public services to travel from Phuket International Airport to Koh Tao need to travel for at least an hour in the wrong direction to board a bus an then repeat the same 30 km journey in order to cross the bridge from Phuket to the mainland.
