There are several different ways you can travel from Krabi International Airport to Railay.
Travel via Ao Nang
You could, for example, take a taxi or bus from the airport to Ao Nang, and then a local wooden boat service from the beach in Ao Nang to Railay. Via this route you arrive on the main beach on the western side of the Railay peninsula. The other point to note about travelling via Ao Nang Beach to Railay is that you need to walk through the water to board the boat on Ao Nang Beach and then again to exit the boat on arrival at Railay West Beach.

Travel via Ao Nammao Railay Pier
The other main route from Krabi International Airport to Railay is to travel to Ao Nammao Railay Pier and then to take a local wooden boat to Railay East Beach. Travelling via this route is an easier option than travelling via Ao Nang Beach for anyone with mobility issues, or carrying lots of luggage, or travelling with small children. Vehicles can drive right up to Ao Nammao Railay Pier and on arrival at Railay East Beach passengers disembark the boat via a floating pier.
This is the route to travel if you want to avoid walking on the beach or in the sea with your luggage during your journey from Krabi International Airport to Railay.
- Location of Ao Nammao Railay Pier:
Krabi International Airport is located 12 km by road to the east of Krabi Town and 25 km by road to north east of Ao Nammao Pier. Booked online through the Search Box above a taxi from Krabi International Airport to Ao Nammao Pier costs 600 to 700 THB and completes the journey in around 35 minutes.
Purchased at the pier, the boat ride from Ao Nammao Pier to Railay costs a further 100 THB person but only if the boat is full. If you want to take the cheaper 100 THB service then you need to be prepared to wait for enough other customers to arrive to make the trip profitable for the operator. Once the boat finally departs, the journey to Railay takes around 15 minutes.
Location of Floating Pier East Railay:
Travelling on a shared minivan and boat services from Krabi International Airport to Railay is cheaper than taking a private taxi to the pier and a privately organised boat to Railay if you are travelling alone or with one other person.
