About Travel from Koh Ngai to Phuket Airport

Shared speedboat services to Phuket depart from the beach in front of the Sea Camp by Open Sea Diving resort, which is nearly in the middle of Koh Ngai Beach.

The journey by speedboat from Koh Ngai to Phuket takes 3 hours. This is because shared speedboat services from Koh Ngai to Phuket don’t travel direct. The number of people who visit Koh Ngai is fairly low so in order to make the service economically viable speedboat operators need to make pick ups from several islands before commencing the long journey across Phang Nga Bay to reach Phuket.

The S.P.S.B.C (Satun Pak Bara Speed Boat Club) service travels from Koh Ngai to Phuket via Koh Muk, Koh Kradan and Koh Lanta, picking up and dropping off customers along the way.

The journey by taxi is scheduled to take from 60 to 90 minutes and costs around 800 THB for a 4 door car and 1,400 THB for a minivan booked online.

You can also travel by public transport from Rassada Pier to Phuket International Airport, however, the journey has two stages:

  • Travel by road from Rassada Pier about 4 km to Phuket Bus Terminal 1, which is in the centre of Phuket Town.
  • Travel by the Phuket Airport Bus from Phuket Bus Terminal 1 to Phuket International Airport.

Taxis and shared minivans operate from Rassada Pier. The taxi fare to Phuket Bus Terminal 1 is likely to be from 300 to 400 THB. The cost of a shared minivan is currently 100 THB. You can also take a shared taxi (songthaew) but you need to walk from Rassada Pier to the Anuphasphuketkarn Road, turn left and walk about 200 metres to a bus stop with a pink sign in order to board a shared taxi service.

The Phuket Airport Bus departs hourly from Phuket Bus Terminal 1 (between 06:00 and 19:00 every day) and takes 90 minutes to travel to Phuket International Airport.
