Koh Nangyuan is a very small cluster of three islets joined by a sandbank which is located just 600 metres to the west of the much larger Koh Tao. At the present time there is only 1 commercial ferry service, operated by Lomprayah High Speed Ferry, which stops at Koh Nangyuan whilst sailing on a route connecting Chumphon to Surat Thani via Koh Tao, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui.

If you are unable to get a seat on the Lomprayah High Speed Ferry Service, particularly during the tourist high season when these services can become very busy, then the alternative way to reach Koh Nangyuan is to travel to Koh Tao and take a connecting local boat service. The round trip from Koh Tao to Nangyuan by local wooden taxi boat typically costs 200 to 300 THB per person.

• Location of Chumphon Airport:

The first stage of the journey with the Lomprayah High Speed Ferry from Chumphon Airport to Koh Nangyuan involves travelling 60.6 km by road south to Thung Makham Noi Lomprayah Ferry Pier. This part of the journey takes around 1 hour.

• Location of Thung Makham Noi Lomprayah Ferry Pier:

The Lomprayah High Speed Ferry service departs from Chumhpon Airport at 08:50 and arrives at Thung Makham Noi Lomprayah Ferry Pier just before 10:00. What this means is that travellers taking this service have a 3 hour wait until the ferry to Koh Nangyuan departs at 13:15.

Fortunately for anyone travelling on this route, Thung Makham Noi Lomprayah Ferry Pier is one of the most attractive ferry piers in Thailand. It’s located on a beach (Thung Makham Noi Beach) and has a full range of facilities including toilets, 2 restaurants, a convenience store, and deck chairs set up facing the beach.

• Location of Nangyuan Resort Docking Pier:

The second stage of the Lomprayah High Speed Ferry service is by a high speed catamaran direct to Koh Nangyuan. The ferry makes no scheduled stops during the journey from Thung Makham Noi Lomprayah Ferry Pier to Koh Nangyuan.

The journey by ferry takes around 1 hour 45 minutes. Passengers have a choice of either sitting inside an air conditioned cabin during the journey, or sitting outside. As well as toilets these large catamaran ferries all have a shop selling drinks, snacks, and a very popular selection of sandwiches. None of the ferries currently operating in the Lower Gulf of Thailand, including the Lomprayah High Speed Ferry Service, offers a WiFi service so passengers need to use their own SIM cards to keep connected during the journey.
