The main form of public transport in Koh Phangan, and the cheapest, is shared taxis. The prices for shared taxis is fixed, so it makes no difference whether you go with one of the taxi touts who will approach you as you leave the ferry, or you walk down to where the shared taxis wait for passengers near to the ferry terminal building. By shared taxi it costs 200 THB per person to travel to Haad Rin, where the Full Moon Party takes places, and 300 THB to travel destinations on the other side of the island such as Chaloklum or Thong Nai Pan.

If you want the shared taxi to leave before its full, or to take a motorbike taxi, then you will need to pay more than the standard fixed fare.
