Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint

Koh Phi Phi has three viewpoints located a short walk from Tonsai Village, which is the main town and ferry pier for Koh Phi Phi Don, the only inhabited island in the archipelago. The viewpoints are open every day from 06:00 to 19:00 and entrance to the first two viewpoints costs 30 THB, and an additional 20 THB for the third viewpoint.

About Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint

The first of the three Koh Phi Phi viewpoints is located a 900 metre walk to the East of Tonsai Pier, which is the main ferry pier for Koh Phi Phi Don where nearly all of the hotels in the Phi Phi Islands are located. The walk to the first viewpoint is on a concrete road and fairly flat until you reach the start of the climb up to the viewpoint near the the Lux Guesthouse. From the Lux Guesthouse you need to climb up a long flight of stairs. The climb takes around 15 minutes.

Once you have ascended this flight of concrete stairs you come to an entrance gate. The land upon which all three Koh Phi Phi viewpoints are located is privately owned and there is an admission charge of 30 THB per person which includes access to viewpoint 1 and 2. Viewpoint 1 is the most popular of the three viewpoints. The viewpoint is marked by a sign and lots of brightly coloured statues of sheep and chicken. A lot of visitors, particularly Asian tourists, like to have their pictures taken here. The view is tremendous. The thin strip of land with a bay on each side, backed by steep hills, is an impressive sight and this is the best vantage point to see it from.

Its an easy 15 minute walk from Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint 1 to Viewpoint 2 as there is only a small ascent. The view doesn’t change that much, however, Viewpoint 2 is less crowded. There are also two cafes at Viewpoint 2 making it an ideal place to stop, rest and have a drink.

Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint 3 is around 10 minutes walk up from Viewpoint 2, although few people bother walking this extra distance to the third viewpoint. The observation deck at Viewpoint 3 is inside a small restaurant and you need to pay 20 THB to enter in return for which you get a small bottle of cold water. You can choose, instead, to buy a different drink instead of water and pay a bit more.
