Ferry from Klong Jilad Pier to Koh Phi Phi

Klong Jilad Pier is a long distance ferry pier close to Krabi Town. The most popular and frequent services from Klong Jilad Pier are to Koh Phi Phi. The cheapest ferry services from the mainland Thailand to Koh Phi Phi depart from Klong Jilad Pier and this is the major reason why people choose to travel through Klong Jilad Pier as opposed to the other piers in Krabi Province.

About Klong Jilad Pier

Klong Jilad Pier has a large and modern terminal building with ticket offices for all the various ferry companies operating services to Koh Phi Phi as well as Tigerline Travel which operates a service to Koh Lanta and serveral other islands, and Phi Phi Cruiser whose services stop off at Klong Jilard Pier on route between Phuket and Koh Phi Phi.

Facilities Klong Jilad Pier

Klong Jilad Pier has a full range of amenities. In the car park there is a separate coffee shop, and a row of 4 small cafes with seating by the main entrance to the terminal building. These 4 small cafes all sell drinks, snacks and sandwiches which they can prepare very quickly in a bag to take away and eat on the ferry if you are short on time. There are also toilets which can be access from the right hand side of the main entrance before you enter the terminal building.

Local Transport at Klong Jilad Pier

There are shared taxis operating on the route between Ao Nang and Krabi Town which stop at Klong Jilad Pier. If you are prepared to wait until one of these shared taxis turns then this is the cheapest way to and from Klong Jilad Pier. Not all shared taxis from Krabi Town to Ao Nang stop at Klong Jilad Pier and when we asked in February 2019 they all wanted over 100 THB to make a detour via Klong Jilad, in which case if you are travelling on your own you are better off taking a motorbike taxi from Krabi Town to Klong Jilad Pier which will cost you 60 to 80 THB. There is a taxi counter at Klong Jilad Pier which charges relatively expensive prices (Klong Jilad Pier to Krabi Town: 400 THB, Klong Jilad Pier to Krabi Bus Terminal 450 THB). Again, if you have the time you will get a better deal by waiting outside the ferry terminal for a taxi or motorbike taxi dropping passengers and agreeing a price with them for taking you to your next destination.

There is a single direct service on a speedboat from Klong Jilad Pier to Koh Lanta, which takes an hour but is expensive. Most people travelling from Krabi to Koh Lanta opt to take the very cheap minivan service down the coast and do the short sea crossing to Koh Lanta on the car ferry which arrives on Koh Lanta’s north island at Klong Mak Pier.
