The journey from Surat Thani to Koh Lanta has two stages:

• Stage 1 is a journey by minivan to Hua Hin Pier on the Andaman Coast. From Surat Thani town this is a journey of 202 km which takes 2 hours 58 minutes to drive direct. The bus or minivan will stop for a short break halfway so the journey is actually closer to 3 hours 30 minutes.
• Stage 2 is sea crossing from Hua Hin Pier to Koh Lanta is on a large car ferry which takes only 10 minutes.

The arrival point in Koh Lanta for this service is on the smaller of the two islands, Koh Lanta Noi. All the resorts are on the other island, Koh Lanta Yai. The journey by road from the pier in Koh Lanta Noi to Koh Lanta Yai is 8.1 km, a 10 minute drive, and the two islands are connected by a bridge.
