About Khao Sok National Park

Khao Sok is a National Park created in 1980 covering an area of approximately 793 km. The park consists of dense pristine tropical jungle, limestone karst rock formations, the giant man made Cheow Lan Lake fed by the Sok River, and a wide range of plants, trees and wildlife including the world’s largest flower, the rafflesia, the Malaysian sun bear, clouded leopards and tigers.

Khao Sok is also a paradise for bird spotters with kingfishers, crested serpent eagles and the ashy drongo, along with a range of other birds, all resident in the National Park. What, however, makes the Khao Sok National Park so popular is that the isolated interior is accessible by river well beyond where the road stops. Popular activities in the Khao Sok National Park include canoeing, fishing, jungle trekking and elephant rides along the jungle trails.
