Floating Pier, Koh Lipe

Koh Lipe has a floating pier which is moored off Pattaya Beach on the south coast of the island. This floating pier is where the larger ferries arrive and depart from. Speed boats and local wooden longtail boats are able to pull in close enough to Pattaya Beach to embark and disembark passengers using the floating plastic pontoons stretching out from beach into the sea. Pattaya Beach is two shallow for larger ferries to get close enough to use these floating plastic pontoons.

About Koh Lipe Floating Pier

Koh Lipe Floating Pier is basically a barge converted for use as a ferry port. The floating pier has a large covered seating area and an office cabin which passengers are not permitted to use. Accessing the pier from a ferry is easy as the doorways on the larger ferries are the same height as the platform of the floating pier. Accessing the floating pier from the wooden boats which transport people to and from the pier is slightly more difficult. The level of the platform is about 1 metre above the deck of the wooden boats. There are wide fixed ladders to assist passengers with the transfer and plenty of staff on hand helping people. Most passengers will manage the transfer without difficulty, although people with difficulties walking may struggle. Children will be carried on and off the boats by the staff if necessary, as will larger items of luggage.

Facilities Koh Lipe Floating Pier

Koh Lipe Floating Pier has no facilities other than a covered seating area. There is no toilet which you can access. The waiting times at the floating pier are normally fairly short so generally this will not be a problem. If you are transferring between two ferries here, and there is a long wait, you may want to take a boat to the beach (at your own expense) and then take another back before your connecting ferry departs.

Local Transport at Koh Lipe Floating Pier

Local wooden boats transfer passengers between Koh Lipe Floating Pier and Pattaya Beach. The journey takes less than 5 minutes. The embarkation point for wooden boats to the floating pier are the plastic floating piers on Pattaya Beach. Sometimes the cost of wooden boat transfer is included in the cost of your ferry ticket. If it isn’t then the standard charge for a transfer between the beach and the floating pier is 50 THB each way per person.
