About the Haad Rin Queen

The ferry operator at the Big Buddha Pier is the Haad Rin Queen.

About the Wooden Ferry

The Haad Rin Queen ferry is a wooden hulled boat with a seating area downstairs and an upper deck with seating around the edge of the deck. These ferries have a single toilet and drinks are sold on the upper deck. The Haad Rin Queen is propelled by an old-fashioned petrol engine with a long shaft connected to propeller and the ferry moves relatively slowly compare to more modern boats operating between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. The Haad Queen ferry is also unstable in rougher seas with the result that some passengers may feel seasick if there are small and medium sized waves and the ferry will stop running altogether if there are big waves.

This is a cheap service though, and for people staing in Haad Rin it means saving on a taxi fare from the other ferry port on Koh Phangan (Thong Sala) to Haad Rin.
